icky medicine!

the LONG, drawn-out, very frustrating, miserable medicine taking process....

i tried everything...bribing with popsicles, fruit snacks, gum, sucker, anything...then i tried threatening....then i tried pleading...for THIRTY minutes!!!! and to think we have to do this for TEN (yes that's TEN) days, THREE times a day! OH MY GOODNESS!! kyle said maybe we try mixing it with dr. pepper!
(i will say the medicine is SUPER nasty and i tried mixing it with apple juice...NO GO!)
he finally took it...some spilled out but oh well...i did the best i could for tonight!

sick sick sick

well my little samuel is sick today....he has quite the "issues"! he has staff from an infected fingernail, pin worms AND strep throat. :( poor guy! all of this and NO fever and NO complaints! i was shocked when dr. hoover told me all of this. i almost didn't even take him in! he is on a mega antibiotic for 10 days to knock out the staff & strep. he also had to take pin-x for the pin worms...eewww! dr. hoover said they are from the dogs and/or being outside. sometimes i am amazed at how samuel gets the most extreme sicknesses and really doesn't complain. he is a trooper...maybe because he has to be! sweet boy!

on top of samuel being sick our a/c is out! soooo....he is set up with a fan in his room, popsicles, water & of course toy story & little bear on the ipad.

ps if you are wondering what's on his face...it's an old spider web tattoo!

autumn night at the park

we enjoyed a cool evening at pollard park. we picked up dinner from einsteins and ate at the park while samuel played. we finished it off with some frozen yogurt from orange leaf. (YUMMY wedding cake is the best!)

saturday, sic'em & spunky flowers

i love saturdays...especially when we have no plans. we start with a trip to the donut shop & starbucks. it's our special breakfast day. after samuel demolishes the tops of 3 chocolate donuts and kyle and i have enjoyed our yummy starbucks and pigs, we usually just hang around and relax for awhile.
today after relaxing for a bit, i cleaned out cabinets and closets as we are having our first ever garage sale next saturday. i was dreading cleaning at first but then i got excited and motivated. it feels so good to purge! i don't know why we don't do it more often. our house doesn't have a ton of storage space and there are cabinets and closets that i haven't touched in years. i begin to complain about our old little cottage and then realize that maybe i need to get rid of some stuff. i mean it is just stuff. i have been feeling lately that we have too much stuff. kyle loves to have a clean & organized space and i do too but i also don't throw out or clean out as much as i should. (this has also gotten especially bad since having the two munchkins...they have SO much gear, clothes & toys!) i think it's good for our souls to do this process too....it gets me to thinking about what "stuff" is cluttering my life & heart, too. i am reminded as i clean out my physical home that i also need to take inventory of my life. i think cleaning out is contagious...i've begun thinking about what i need to "organize" or "purge" in my heart...i'll let you know...

in the spirit of baylor v. tech football game we all sported our baylor t-shirts today. here are a few shots of the boys in their shirts.

our baylor bears put up a good fight and almost came out with a win :( but i guess only loosing by 7 is pretty good!

i also decided to take advantage of these really funky, perfectly hot pinky-red flowers that grow randomly in our yard and make a "contemporary" flower arrangement for my entry. the spring & summer is my most favorite time of the year and i get a little meloncholy as fall approaches. i know this is different than most people as they welcome the fall...don't get me wrong i do too...hello pumpkin spice latte, mulled cider candles and cool weather! but i do mourn the summer being over- this usually only lasts through september though. sooo...when i see some cute, perky flowers blooming in october i get excited. they were the perfect accent to my entry...don't you think!?

poop....read at your own risk!

just a little tidbit of my daily life:

samuel: i need to go poop
me: ok
samuel sits on the toilet for a while
samuel: mamma...i'm dooonnneee!
me: ok i'm coming (as i finish making the bed)
samuel: mamma i don't hear your feet
me: ok...coming
samuel: wait...i'm not done!
me:ok
a minute or two goes by
samuel: mamma come look at how much poop i did..
me: wow! samuel that's a lot! (as i check out the potty...there was a lot!)
samuel (as i am wiping him): mamma which one is your favorite?
me: what? what are you talking about?
samuel: which one is your favorite? which poop is your favorite?
me: you mean which piece of poop do i like best?
samuel: yes!
me (getting a tad grossed out!): i guess the long one
samuel: i like the short little ones!

oooohhhhh myyyy! just another day and another conversation with my little boy!

ahhhh the mountains!

benjamin and i got back from colorado springs monday. we went for a "girls" cousin & aunt trip. it was plagued with a nasty stomach bug but other than that we had a wonderful time with aunt joy, catherine, richard, connor, gloria, mom and carrie.

the weather was very nice...40's at night and 70's & 80's during the day. we enjoyed relaxing on the deck looking out at aunt joy's beautiful yard and garden- complete with a pumpkin patch, watched many, many episodes of the tudor's (i can't stop thinking about what henry VIII will do next or if he will get his divorce to queen catherine....ahhh the drama!), ate lots of delicious chinese food thanks to richard's family owning a chinese food restaurant, strolled the streets of old colorado city in which i got a great black, leather bag for $19 on sale at this cute boutique!, toured garden of the gods two times (one at 7 am to see the sun rise and make the rocks glow- amazing), had fun eating a buffalo burger at the trading post, stuffing ourselves at a yummy brunch at the sunbird restaurant that looks over the mountains & the city and finally shopping in manitou springs with the hippies!
